Vasu facial oil and aloe vera gel

Review: Vasu Kumkumadi Tailam and Aloe Vera Gel

Mayuri!! How many times do I have to tell you to not go out and play in Sun!!”

My Skin Care Journey

I still remember these words of my mom. Every time I would go out in the afternoon, my mom would instruct me to play only in shade. One of the reasons for her concern was damage to my skin. Since I was least bothered about my skin health, my mom would make sure she took care of it. When I was a teenager, she would apply all sorts of home-made remedies for my skin and my hair. And that worked out pretty well.

But as I moved away from the comfort of home and got busy with my professional and personal life, skin care was the least I was worried about. Especially with my interests in outdoor activities, sports and travel, skin care took a back seat.

But, how much could my body or skin take the beating! Extensive sun damage and lack of care resulted in all sorts of skin problems like pigmentation, dryness and blemishes. Although I went back to the age-old home remedies, there was only so much they could do.

So, I was looking for something natural and ayurvedic, when I got my hands on the Facial Beauty Oil with Kumkumadi Tailam, and Aloe Vera Gel from Vasu Healthcare.

Vasu Healthcare

First of all, I trusted Vasu Healthcare products simply because of their experience. They have been working in this field since 1980. In their glorious legacy of 40 years, they have won several National Awards for quality herbal products.

So, when they brought their skin care range in market, I was thrilled to try them out. Their skin care products are made from natural herbal actives and enhance the health of skin. They are paraben-free, mineral oil-free formaldehyde-free, non- irritant and dermatologically safe to use.

Kumkumadi Tailum – Facial Oil

I have sensitive and dry skin; so, most of the facial serums available in the market tend to dry up totally after a while. As winter is approaching, I needed something which provided sufficient moisture without being sticky.

I was pretty excited to try Vasu Healthcare’s facial oil because I have already heard so many benefits of Kumkumadi Tailum or Kumkumadi Oil. For those who don’t know, Kumkumadi oil is an age-old Ayurvedic concoction of many herbs which focuses on improving the overall health of skin.

The pack came in a 25ml bottle with a dropper for easy application. Priced at Rs. 550 per bottle, I think the product is very economical and great value for money.

Usage instructions were pretty simple. After cleaning the face, I applied 2-3 drops of facial oil and massaged it until it got absorbed completely. I felt the best time to apply it was at night.

Vasu Healthcare claims that regular application of this oil helps in maintaining youthful appearance of skin, it boosts collagen synthesis, improves skin elasticity, revitalizes and nourishes skin, evens skin tone by reducing age spots, and reduces appearance of premature wrinkles.

Of course, these improvements take their good time. But what I definitely found that the oil provided great moisture to my skin without feeling heavy or sticky. I am totally loving it!

Aloe Vera Gel

I am a fan of an Aloe Vera plant. I remember, I bought a tiny aloe vera plant from an exhibition almost 15 years ago and the same plant is still going strong at my home in Raipur. Just the sheer number of ways in which it can be used amazes me.

Most of the times I directly use the gel directly from the plant. But, sometimes, time doesn’t permit that; so, for those times, I completely rely on the Vasu Aloe Vera gel.  I found it to be the closest to actual/real aloe vera plant gel.

I use aloe vera gel as base in most of my skin and hair care routine and home remedies. Aloe vera gel is a magic ingredient to me as it nourishes and soothes my sensitive skin at the same time.

On skin, I apply it directly mostly, but sometimes, I use it to mix my ubtan/face pack made of besan (gram flour), sandalwood, multani mitti (fuller’s earth), yogurt, honey, etc. On hairs, I apply it directly as hair pack mostly, but sometimes, I mix it with other home-made hair packs of henna, amla, reetha, yogurt, etc.

Aloe vera gel is the only ingredient that I have used most of my life for almost every skin related to problem.

I totally recommend both of these products coz they are super effective and affordable.
